The Jousting District in the province of Rovigo, born in the 1950s and consolidated in the 1960s, represents a true economic, technological and cultural excellence for our territory.
It was the beginning of the 20th century when two bicycle mechanics, looking for work, saw a merry-go-round at a festival in a Polesine village. They realised they could build one and earn a living going around village festivals. They thus became artisans and builders of small merry-go-rounds: pioneers of a movement that would not only save the inhabitants of Bergantino from emigration, but would grow steadily until it became, in the present day, a world leader in the amusement park and fireworks sector.
In fact, in the province of Rovigo there are leading national and international companies operating in some of the municipalities of Alto Polesine: Bergantino, Melara, Calto, Castelnovo Bariano, Ceneselli and Castelmassa.
